"It’s expected that cultivators will either start their plants from seeds or from cuttings only after receiving a license from the Marijuana Control Board. The regulations require that all cuttings that are 8" tall and present on the licensed premises on the day of license issuance be entered into METRC, the marijuana inventory tracking system. After the initial inventory is established, the regulations prohibit personal use marijuana or any marijuana that was not grown in a licensed marijuana cultivation facility and tracked as such being entered into the tracking system."

Open letter to AMCO.

Its reasonable to assume tha ALL of Cannabis species. arrived in Alaska by illegal means. Seeds or cuttings are either grown or shipped here illegally, there is a gigantic seed market overseas.
Not allowing genetics to be allowed into the METRC system after initial inspection is the wrong thing to do. This severely handicaps the system as far as variety, and cultivators will have a hard time keeping up with the latest market trends. New phenotypes are constantly being discovered and AMCO needs to understand this. Alcohol comes in a variety of flavors and strengths to meet market demands. Cannabis is no different.

Today I'm seeing a trend embracing CBD non psychoactive strains, or strains that have unique flavors. I am also seeing species that do not need artificial lighting and can be grown outdoors no matter the long daylight. AMCO needs a way to allow variety and and allow the introduction of new cultivars,
The entire point of this letter is a licenced cultivation facility is going to get its plants via illegal means, I do not expect them to get freebies from growers across the state or their plants obtained through legitimate sources. AMCO needs to allow people like myself to help "startup" licenced cultivation facilities. I cannot charge per clone because that would be illegal, but I will charge for labor, and associated materials for my work. I am a service company. Not a retail outlet.
